He
was born in 1947 in
Leningrad where he began his violin studies
at the age of five. He followed these
studies till 1965 at the Specialist Music
School of Leningrad and then at the Music
Conservatory of Moscow till 1971. Among his
teachers some of the legendary professors of
the Russian School: Yuri Yankelevich, Maya
Glezarova and Abraham Stern.
He was laureate of international
competitions of Poznan, Munich, Montréal,
Belgrade, Budapest and Prize Winner of the
International Queen Elisabeth Competition of
Belgium in 1976.
He has recorded over 30 discs (Melodia, DGG...).
Mikhaïl Bezverkhny is a very creative artist.
He is not only an outstanding violinist but
also an exceptional viola player. His latest
performances of the 24 Caprices of Paganini
which he plays on the viola,are breathtaking.
He is also a painter,and at some occasions
performed as an actor. As a composer of the
Gambrinus suite he won the First Prize of
Music at the International Film Festival of
Valence in 1992.
His performances are always thrilling
experiences. He has a unique sound,
immediately recognizable as the great
violinists of the past. |
